The next day in pharmaceutical industry – Eleni Zekka: “We can achieve more”
The Healthview magazine, gives stand to the Greek pharmaceutical industry. How do company leaders see the course of the domestic manufacturing industry, the emerging business frame and the new “normal” that is being created and concerns not only the local pharmaceutical market, but also the global market.
Eleni Zekka, vice president of Help Pharmaceuticals, comments:
The sudden and unprecedented situation in which we all found ourselves and faced – government, medical community, companies, and citizens – I think it activated our reflexes almost instantly. It forced us to get out of an ineffective “lethargy”, to realize our real needs and our dormant potential. I would say that we have emerged with a new face which we deserve to continue to show, both inside and outside the country.
Personally, I see in all this adventure, an opportunity for a creative and beneficial restart for our society, as a total. In particular, the Greek pharmaceutical industry has shown that it can offer solutions and be a multiple supporter of the state.
The export activity on all the continents with medicines which we develop and produce in our factories, is not accidental. It is based on the entrepreneurial spirit, on decades of infrastructure, on continuous investments, on high-level scientific personnel that honors the country. There are ideas, there is passion, and these will remain on the next day and the state must finally give us – essentially and not in words – the opportunity to show our potential, for the benefit of all.
Because it is to the benefit of both the Greek state and Greek society, the maximum possible self-sufficiency from domestically produced drugs, the promotion of Greek innovation, local jobs, exports… So, let us stop the unsubstantiated “war” of relentless taxes, so we can return multiple benefits from our side. We can achieve more.
For Help Pharmaceuticals, the next day will be exactly the same! We will continue to develop and prove – as we have been doing since 1971 – that we remain committed to R&D and the production of high-quality pharmaceutical products. The difference now is that can we be proud to have proven to all our customers, in Greece and around the world, that we have managed to stand by them and deliver with consistency and responsibility, despite any adversity.
